I use google most, my dad said that google is better; but I can’t seem to figure out what the difference is!

I recently installed Microsoft Office Word onto my laptop, after I had to delete it for another issue, and used Microsoft Works Processor for a while. But now that’s my default for opening documents. How can I make it Mic. Office word instead?

I know you can boot linux from a usb, I just made one last night, but my question is how does it work on any machine I boot it on…how does it interface with different hardware?
